Indian Garlic Exporters - An insight into the exporting scenario

The export of Garlic in India has always been considered as one of the biggest trades in terms of revenue. Being one of the largest producers of garlic in the world this crop has taken export to new highs in India. This in turn has helped the Garlic Exporters in India to make profits out of this business. The export of garlic has been one of the leading trade in India for many years due to its high production. China, Spain, France, Egypt are other leading producers of garlic along with India covering the maximum market share. The major importing countries of Indian garlic are Bangladesh, UAE, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Mauritius, Qatar and Kuwait.

The breed of garlic produced in India is highly nutritious and possesses a strong aroma. It is said that a clove of garlic keeps cancer at bay. Garlic has been rated as the second most important bulb crop grown in India after onion. This product has been universally accepted as a valuable spice for food as well as an herbal solution to many ailments. Garlic is a rich source of allicin, a sulfur compound which helps to combat cancer. Because of the unique characteristics it possesses, it is known as a natural antiseptic. This herbal crop also finds its application in killing bacteria and microbes from food.
 
The Garlic exporters take an extra effort in maintaining the freshness and nutritional value of garlic before supplying the end products to the global market for their consumption. The demand for garlic is increasing at a rapid pace because of increasing the sale of branded food pickles as well as carry products. This is also used widely in the productions of herbal products, herbal pastes and medicines. Exporting of garlic has to be balanced keeping the domestic market demands into consideration which is also robust.

Technological up-gradation are carried on a regular basis for maintaining the quality and improvement of the export of garlic. Having the support of the Spice Board, the Indian Garlic Exporter has set up sufficient infrastructure in place which helps in the improvement of export on a continuous basis. These developments are in tune keeping the varying levels of market acceptance into consideration.
